- We collect only what we need to teach you and run the service.
- We never sell your data. We never show ads. You are the customer, not the product.
- Parents of minors control their child's account and can see progress — never the student's conversations.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains how FixMyGrade ("FixMyGrade," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and learning services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account; a parent or guardian's name and email for accounts managed on behalf of a minor.
- Learning content: the questions you ask, the work you submit, your teach-back explanations, notes you write, and materials you upload (such as class documents or syllabi) so the Coach can teach from them.
- Grade information: grades you choose to share, for example by uploading a screenshot of a grade portal. We read the screenshot you provide — we never ask for, store, or use your school portal password.
- Payment information: processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: how you use the Service (sessions started, concepts practiced, features used) so the Coach can adapt to you and so we can improve the product.
- Device and log data: browser type, device type, IP address, and error logs, used for security, debugging, and keeping the Service working.
2. How we use information
- To teach you: your learning content is used to run tutoring sessions, track which concepts you've mastered, schedule reviews so you don't forget them, and personalize how the Coach teaches you.
- To operate the Service: account management, billing, support, and security.
- To inform parents: for accounts managed by a parent or guardian, we provide progress summaries — work time, concepts mastered, and grade trends. Parents do not see the student's conversations with the Coach.
- To improve the product: we analyze usage patterns to make the Service better.
3. AI processing
FixMyGrade is an AI-powered service. To provide tutoring, the content of your learning sessions (your questions, work, and the materials you upload) is processed by the AI language-model providers we use to power the Coach. These providers process this data to generate the Coach's responses, under agreements that restrict their use of it. We do not permit our AI providers to use your personal content to train their publicly available models.
4. Children's privacy
FixMyGrade is designed for students, including minors, and we take children's privacy seriously.
- Under 13: accounts for children under 13 may only be created by a parent or legal guardian, who provides verifiable consent as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The parent is the account holder, controls the child's profile, and may review or delete the child's information at any time.
- 13–17: we recommend parent-managed accounts for all minors. Where a minor uses the Service, we collect only the information needed to provide it.
- We do not knowingly collect more information from a child than is needed to provide the Service, we do not show children advertising, and we never sell children's data.
- Parents can contact us at hello@fixmygrade.com to review, correct, or delete their child's information or to withdraw consent.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run FixMyGrade — hosting and infrastructure, AI model providers (to generate the Coach's responses), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and analytics/error monitoring. Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a user or others.
6. Data retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active so the Coach can maintain your learning record (your mastery history is the product). If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, billing, or security reasons. You can request deletion at any time by emailing hello@fixmygrade.com.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@fixmygrade.com — we honor these requests for everyone, regardless of location.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the security of student data as a core responsibility, not an afterthought.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the Service before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
